Serving the community

 

Nathex Sparkhill manages the community facilities at St John's Church and with the help of volunteers we run:

  • a Lunch Club for senior citizens (The Good Companion) every Tuesday from 9.30am - 1.30pm
  • a Homework Club for primary children every Tuesday from 4.30 - 5.30pm
  • a Football Club for secondary school boys every Wednesday from 4.15 - 5.45pm
  • 'Little Angels' a Parent and Toddler group every Thursday afternoon 1.00 - 2.30pm and Friday morning from 10.00 - 11.30am 
  • a Ladies Craft Club meeting one Saturday morning every other month - a kid-free zone for women to get together and do something creative
  • a Refugee and Asylum Seekers Basic Resources Store - Basic household and baby items, utensils, toys etc - not large furniture. Donated items gladly received - please phone with details before delivering. 
  • 'The Hearth' - a Refugee and Asylum Seeker Gathering every Friday from 1.00 - 5.00pm. Tea, coffee and friendship.
  • a One Stop Shop every Thursday 10.00am to 12.00noon offering help with forms, CV's, job search and signposting.

A Volunteer Pianist

 

To play popular music at our Lunch Club at least one Tuesday morning every month.

Time 11.00am for about an hour

You will need a:

  • pleasant personality
  • rapport with elderly people
  • willingness to be part of a team
