Narthex Sparkhill manages the community facilities at St John's Church and with the help of volunteers we run:

  • a Lunch Club for senior citizens (The Good Companion) every Tuesday from 9.30am - 1.30pm
  • a Homework Club for primary children every Tuesday from 4.30 - 5.30pm
  • a Women's Group - a safe place to meet friends. Light refreshments, crafts and lots of laughter. 12.00 - 2.00pm
  • a Football Club for secondary school boys every Wednesday from 4.15 - 5.45pm
  • a Men's Group - Every Wednesday evening 7.00 - 9.00pm. A friendly and safe place to meet your friends, light refreshments, pool, table soccer, table tennis and more. 
  • a One Stop Shop every Thursday 10.00am to 12.00noon offering help with forms, CV's, job search and signposting.
  • 'Little Angels' a Parent and Toddler group every Thursday afternoon 1.00 - 2.30pm and Friday morning from 10.00 - 11.30am 
  • a Refugee and Asylum Seekers Basic Resources Store - basic household and baby items, utensils, toys etc - not large furniture. Donated items gladly received - please phone with details before delivering. 
  • 'The Hearth' - a Refugee and Asylum Seeker Drop-in every Friday from 1.00 - 4.30pm. Tea, coffee and friendship.

Volunteer opportunities 

 


 

Foodbank

Narthex Sparkhill is setting up a Foodbank and will be in need of volunteers from Mid December onwards to help with the collection of food and the packing and distribution of food parcels.
